Hello, I am Don McCann, and I have been practicing rehabilitative, hands-on therapy for over 46 years. When I first became a Licensed Massage Therapist, I noticed that recurring pain in my clients was a common theme, and my efforts to eliminate the source of that pain developed into Structural Energetic Therapy®. Since my focus was the actual rehabilitation of whatever conditions were causing pain and dysfunction to my clients, my treatment incorporates knowledge from many sources, as well as my own original discoveries and techniques.
I have a Masters’ Degree in Counselor Education from the University in South Florida, and I am a graduate of the Florida Massage Therapy School. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have served as Executive President of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association. The unique body of knowledge I obtained while practicing SET Therapy inspired me to teach this remarkably effective rehabilitative therapy to others, which has since turned into an extensive three-phase training program and an additional 30 Board-approved continued education workshops.
I have also created and developed Cranial/Structural Therapy and Cranial/ Structural Energetics. My massage therapist and mental health counselor licenses have given me a unique opportunity to work with the integration of physical structure, the energetic and emotional body, and the mind. This allows me to integrate the mind-body connection that is so necessary for healing.
I have lectured and taught at various universities, national and state conventions, professional associations, and massage schools around the nation, as well as at The Institute for Structural Energetic Therapy training center in Lutz, Florida. In an effort to share my knowledge, I authored five books and have published over 150 articles, along with three DVDs, and a meditation CD.
I am honored to be an Academy Professor for ACIM, the Academy of Comprehensive and Integrative Medicine, and I was inducted into the Massage Hall of Fame for the World Massage Festival. The Florida State Massage Therapy Association named me Massage Therapist of the Year in 1994 and 1996.
My professional development includes:
To give my life balance, I spend a lot of time outdoors and have been boating and fishing since I was a little boy. My other outdoor interests include foraging for mushrooms, hiking, bicycling and scuba diving. I also enjoy collecting crystals and reading, along with an interest in the fine arts and sharing my life with my wife.
If you are experiencing continuous, unrelenting pain, I urge you to give Structural Energetic Therapy a chance to relieve that pain and give you back your ability to enjoy life again, without constant suffering.
