IST (Integrative Structural Therapy) Workshops
Intermediate level Soft Tissue Protocols
All workshops are CEU approved by National (Type A) and Florida State
These workshops are the Integrative Structural Therapy (IST) Workshops, not the one-year Intensive SET Training. The protocols are intermediate level soft-tissue work and very effectively relieve symptoms. These hands-on techniques can be incorporated into your current practice, and will greatly enhance the effectiveness of your work.
OUR TEACHING GOAL:
Participants will leave the weekend with an
understanding of the techniques presented, and the confidence and
ability to effectively apply these techniques and protocols. The
teachers create a professional informal atmosphere for learning
which includes plenty of hands-on application of the techniques as
well as individual support. We believe in making learning fun!
Workshops are normally scheduled on weekends. calendar
RELIEF FROM BACK PAIN - IST (14 CEU's)
The pelvis supports the structure of the body. Releasing old structural patterns in this area will relieve low back and leg pain, as well as facilitate rehabilitation from painful conditions throughout the body and provide support for balanced postural alignment. You will learn:
~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
~to recognize postural distortions
~techniques to address distortions
~protocols for pelvic balancing
~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
~scheduling frequency for optimum healing
Conditions relieved with this protocol include sciatica, bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, limited range of motion in hips, knees and back, sprains/strains and other injuries to the back and legs. This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.
RELIEF FROM HEAD, NECK, SHOULDER PAIN (14 CEU's) Headaches and neck, shoulder, and upper back pain are among the most common complaints due to high stress, car accidents, an abundance of computer operators, and structural imbalances.
You will learn:
~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
~to recognize postural distortions
~techniques to address distortions
~a Quick Release Technique
~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
~scheduling frequency for optimum healing
Conditions relieved with this protocol include headaches, flexion/extension injuries, bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, limited range of motion in the neck and shoulder, torticollis, carpal tunnel symptoms, vertebral artery compression syndrome, and sprain/strain injuries. This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.
The Quick Release Technique will relieve headaches, neck, and shoulder pain, quickly relaxes uptight clients, and prepares clients for deeper work. Protocol takes 10-15 minutes to apply - great practice builder!
(This Quick Release technique is also taught as a mini-workshop as a therapy on its own). (calendar)SPECIAL MUSCLES OF THE BODY - IST (14 CEU's) The focus is on muscles, myofascial patterns and viscera associated with the abdomen. Illness, stress, surgery, postural imbalances, trapped emotions or life changes all tend to affect the normal function of abdominal organs.
You will learn:
~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
~techniques to treat specific conditions & symptoms
~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific visceral releases
~individual fiber releases
~scar tissue and adhesion releases
~scheduling frequency for optimum healing
Conditions relieved with this protocol include abdominal adhesions from surgery and endometriosis, spastic colon, spastic ileocecal valve, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, difficulty in moving bowels, nervous stomach/ulcers, hiatal hernias, esophageal spasms, restricted breathing, lymph flow. This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines. (calendar)
RELIEF FROM CARPAL TUNNEL and OTHER NERVE ENTRAPMENTS
(14 CEU's)
The primary cause of carpal tunnel and nerve entrapment of the arms is structural imbalance resulting in specific strain patterns, a factor that is often overlooked and not addressed in the treatment of these conditions.
You will learn:
~anatomy
~postural distortions that contribute to this problem
~techniques to release these distortions
~ to recognize symptoms related to nerve entrapment
~ to treat nerve pathways for nerve entrapment
~protocols for effective treatment
~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
~scheduling frequency for optimum healing
Conditions relieved with this protocol include numbness in hands/fingers, weakness in arms/hands/fingers, swelling in hands/forearms, inflammation around joints in elbow/wrist/hands/fingers, adhesion build-up in arm, progressive immobility in fingers/hands/wrist/elbows, shoulder/arm/wrist/hand/finger pain, tennis elbow, trigger finger, tendonitis, and more. This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.

CRANIAL/STRUCTURAL CORE DISTORTION RELEASES I -
IST
(presented by Don McCann) (16 CEU's) (See Cranial/Structural Article)
These techniques can be integrated into any soft tissue treatment, and they will initiate dramatic structural changes from the beginning of the first session. Clients often report relief almost immediately, and their confidence in you as a therapist will quickly be established. (To our knowledge, no one else is teaching this
expanded Cranial/Structural technique.)
You will learn:
~cranial anatomy
~cranial rhythms
~core distortion pattern
~structural evaluation
~body reading
~cranial/structural relationships
~soft tissue cranial releases
~muscle testing and kinesiology
~correction of structural distortions
